About LCA Transport
The transport calculator has been updated and now provides an improved basis for assessing the environmental impact associated with the transport of construction products.
LCA Transport enables fast and structured calculation of transport-related emissions, either as:

a supplement to transport emissions already reported in Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), or
-
an alternative when transport contributions are not specified in available EPDs.
The tool is particularly useful in project phases where rapid calculations are required for a specific construction site, and where transport choices can have a significant impact on the overall carbon footprint.
By making emissions from different transport solutions visible, LCA Transport supports better decision-making. This makes it easier to identify measures that can reduce environmental impact, such as choices related to transport mode, distances, or capacity utilization.
The environmental impacts in LCA Transport are modelled using data from the ecoinvent database. As a result, calculated values may differ slightly from transport data reported in specific EPDs, which are based on company- or product-specific data.
The need to document the environmental profile of products is increasing due to stricter requirements from markets, customers, and authorities. Today, stakeholders increasingly request insight into environmental performance across the entire life cycle — not only during the use phase.
