Danish companies in the construction industry are producing thousands of EPDs to meet customer demands for environmental documentation. The pace is high, and today it has become necessary to automate the processes in order to keep costs down.

LCA.no is an international provider of tools and services for environmental documentation and is experiencing increasing demand from Danish companies – especially after 1 July 2025, when stricter requirements for CO₂ emissions in construction came into force in the Danish building regulations.
The international provider is an important player in the Danish market and offers, among other solutions, a user-friendly, pre-verified EPD generator that enables companies to develop new EPDs quickly and cost-effectively.
“Denmark is one of the most exciting markets for us, because the ability to document climate impact through LCA and EPD has almost become a ‘license to play’ for actors in the construction industry,” says Key Account Manager Hans-Martin Wehler, LCA.no.

Essential tools
One of LCA.no’s Danish customers is the concrete specialist IBF, which through an agreement with the industry organization Dansk Beton has received support from LCA.no to automate its environmental documentation processes.
“We don’t have to develop EPDs entirely from scratch – we could not manage without the tools from LCA.no,” says Helene Løvkvist Andersen, LCA Engineer and Head of the EPD Team at IBF.
“We use the tools, among other things, to create both product-specific EPDs and for projects where the customer requests a specific EPD.”
What is an EPD and environmental documentation?
An EPD – Environmental Product Declaration – can be compared to a “climate passport” for a product. It shows how much energy, resources, and emissions are associated with the product throughout its entire life cycle – from raw material extraction to production, use, and disposal.
Environmental documentation is about collecting and presenting this data in a standardized way, so that developers, contractors, and purchasers can make more informed choices. In the construction industry, this is becoming increasingly important, as both authorities and customers demand transparency about environmental impact.
Quick to create new EPDs
Helene Løvkvist Andersen finds the tools from LCA.no easy and intuitive to use. Once the data has been collected and entered, it is simple to generate new EPDs on request.
“The data collection can be time-consuming, but once it is in the system it goes quite quickly. For example, we have created seven EPDs just in the past few days,” says the LCA engineer.

Clients require environmental documentation
Dorthe Aaboe Kallestrup, ESG Director at IBF, explains that developers now include requirements for environmental documentation in their cooperation agreements.
It is an advantage to use LCA.no’s tools to calculate the actual CO₂ emissions, as these are usually lower than generic figures.
“There is a great demand for documentation, and we also use the tools to create CO₂ reports for our major customers,” says the ESG Director.

LCA.no’s tools also help the concrete producer’s management with data and insights in their work to reduce climate impact. The producer has an ambitious target of reducing its CO₂ emissions by 70 percent by the end of 2030.
IBF is one of Denmark’s largest concrete producers and a nationwide supplier of concrete products such as drainage products, curbstones, tiles and paving stones, concrete roof tiles, and ready-mix concrete.
Meet LCA.no in Denmark
Construction companies can meet LCA.no at Building Green Copenhagen on 29–30 October at Lokomotivværkstedet, Copenhagen. The exhibition is free and open from 09:00 to 17:00.
The exhibition is the Nordic region’s largest meeting place for sustainable development in the construction industry, and LCA.no Key Account Manager Inger Johanne Brodal Dahl will be present both days, ready to discuss environmental documentation, EPDs, or tailored solutions for your sector.
It is also possible to meet LCA.no already on 28 October 2025 at a morning meeting in Industriens Hus, where breakfast will be served at 08:00, followed by the meeting from 08:30 to 09:30.
Morning meeting at Industriens Hus
At the meeting, LCA.no will guide you through the latest Danish regulations, what they mean for your company, and provide an overview of solutions and practical tools.
You will get a clear picture of the new requirements, concrete examples of how companies can ensure compliance in cooperation with authorities and partners, as well as practical solutions that make the necessary calculations and documentation both clear and efficient.
You will learn how EPD tools are used in practice, understand why they are important for competitiveness, and hear experiences from companies that have already taken the leap. The useful perspectives, inspiration, and practical tools can be applied directly in your daily work.
