Integration

Create EPDs and Projects with our API..

What is an API?

API (Application Programming Interface) is an interface that provides direct access to data and functionality in a software system, making it much easier for one system or service to communicate with another.

APIs are essential for building modern applications and systems, as they allow developers to integrate and leverage existing features instead of building new systems from scratch. This makes development more efficient and fosters innovative solutions. They are central to the operation of digital services—from social media platforms integrating with other apps, to enterprise systems sharing data internally or with third-party services.

There are different types of APIs, including public APIs, which are available to external developers, and private APIs, which are used internally within organizations. All types are used for managing data exchange and communication between systems.

LCA.no offers API integration with all our tools

We divide our API integrations into two main categories: Create and Share.

Create – For companies using LCA.tools

Create EPDs for your products or start new LCA projects without logging into LCA.tools.

API integration can be used to send text, images, and data from your company’s internal systems.

Examples include product data from Product Information Management (PIM) systems or supplier data such as transport distances from ERP systems.

Share – For companies and external users

Share data with internal or external systems—such as websites, internal product systems, or product databases.

Examples of data you can share:

  • CO₂ values (GWP) or other environmental indicators

  • Number of products with an EPD

  • Number of liters of fuel used in a project

  • Number of production sites

You can also download files via the API, such as EPDs, climate declarations, or LCA project reports.

Want to become an integration partner?

LCA.no welcomes more integration partners for both data creation and sharing. Many companies use the same systems, and by forming partnerships, integration projects can be implemented more easily for multiple businesses.
