Svenskt Trä and LCA.no in new collaboration: simplifying EPD work for the Swedish forestry and wood industry

Svenskt Trä and LCA.no have entered a new collaboration to develop an EPD generator tailored to Swedish sawmills and suppliers of wood and forest products. The aim is to provide the industry with a modern and efficient tool that makes it easier to meet climate documentation requirements in Sweden and the EU.

The collaboration comes at a time when regulations such as the EU Construction Products Regulation (CPR-2024), the Digital Product Passport (DPP), and stricter Swedish climate declarations are increasing the need for company-specific EPDs. Members of Svenskt Trä gain access to a solution developed specifically for wood-based products and adapted to the industry’s processes.

Streamlining the EPD process – without extra third-party verification

One of the biggest advantages of LCA.no’s EPD generator is that the tool is already pre-verified by EPD Norway (EPD Global). This means that companies do not need full third-party verification for each individual EPD.

“The fact that the entire tool is pre-verified means that our customers avoid both the extensive process and the costs normally associated with each third-party review. The result is faster processes, lower costs, and the assurance that quality is guaranteed in advance,” says Cato Hansen, Key Account Manager at LCA.no.

A solution for the entire industry – from small sawmills to large groups

The framework agreement between Svenskt Trä and LCA.no enables flexible solutions adapted to different types of businesses – from small and medium-sized companies to large players with their own LCA experts.

“The framework agreement allows us to offer our members efficient and tailored solutions regardless of whether they need a few EPDs or have large product portfolios and processing steps. It strengthens the entire industry’s ability to meet the requirements now coming from both Sweden and the EU,” says Patrice Godonou, Head of Standardisation at Svenskt Trä.

Training and implementation starting in early 2026

Svenskt Trä and LCA.no are planning introductory sessions and courses for members in January–February 2026. More information will be shared in dedicated newsletters from Svenskt Trä to their members.
